Having grown up in New London, a small Minnesota town, Brady Toops spent the majority of his early years running around on diamonds and athletic fields. After making a brief stint in Minor League Baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals, he left the world of athletics in 2006 to pursue his first love, music.
Q: As an artist, why did you choose Nashville?
A: About six years ago I came to town to make one of my first records and quickly realized this was the home I'd been looking for, for quite some time. Nashville carries within its borders a value for friendship and creativity that has both strengthened and inspired me greatly. I love it.
Q: What inspires you?
A: At the end of the day, life is full of wonder and our job is just to notice it. I think it's the true role of an artist, to slow down enough to genuinely see life and the world and then invite others into that space, whether it be through the medium of music, photography, film, etc.
Q: Why do you care about ethical fashion?
A: In a day where many American businesses leverage the workforce of lesser developed countries to exploit people, I care about the brands doing the opposite, like Nisolo. I love that they've chosen to live a bigger story, combining the skills and expertise of shoemaker's in Peru with the modern style of American trends connected to the global marketplace. It's a brand that gives dignity to both the creator and the consumer.
