Rachel is Nisolo’s spring intern and a graduate of the University of Mississippi’s Croft Institute for International Studies, where Nisolo founder Patrick Woodyard also earned his degree. Currently, Rachel is a graduate student at Elon University where she studies interactive media. She is passionate about raising awareness for international issues, and hopes to work for a nonprofit in this area once she graduates in May.
Working with Nisolo has been the perfect opportunity for Rachel to learn cause-based marketing from the inside out. Rachel visited Peru during her semester abroad, and loved the country and all the people she met. Knowing that she could contribute to a cause that would help people like the ones she met was the ultimate reason she applied to be an intern. Rachel is so excited to be part of the future for Nisolo. She looks forward to continuing to spread the word about Nisolo, the causes they support, and sustainable change.
Volunteering on a Habitat for Humanity project in Cambodia was the most meaningful experience Rachel has had abroad because she got to know the people directly helped by the organization’s work. She has always been interested in international aid and organizations like Amnesty International and the United Nations, but she says actually being part of a life changing moment for those people was an amazing experience for her.
Outside of work for grad school and Nisolo, Rachel plays ultimate frisbee for the Elon women’s club team, who will be going to D-III Nationals this spring! She also loves cooking, watching Community, and bugging her boyfriend Matt about adopting a kitten.
We are quite grateful to have someone like Rachel on our team!
Thanks for meeting Rachel this Monday.
